The Elements of SpiritI am Alpha and Omega. The beginning and the ending. - Revelation 1:8 God is Alpha and Omega. To me this means more than just a beginning and an ending. I think it defines the elements of spirit and leads to the concept of reincarnation. I believe our spirit is real - that it is a source of energy that becomes embodied, disembodied, and re-embodied, again and again. Consider Revelation 1:18: "I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore..." Traditionally this has been interpreted as meaning that we live, we die, and then we go to heaven. But could this not also be a reference to an eternal process of birth, death, and rebirth for our soul? It is our energy, our spirit, that is eternal, not our earthbound bodies. Energy is infinite. It may transform, but it always exists. The DivineEverything around us, even as we stretch our gaze farther and farther into the cosmos, is made of energy. Our creator is energy - electric and magnetic. We receive our energy from the divine through our soul or spirit. Our spirit is also a form of electromagnetic energy. We can feel that energy when we experience great inspiration or moments of intellectual discovery - parts of our body tingle with excitement. When a strong feeling is triggered in our center - like when we first fall in love - our body tingles with pleasure. Could it be that we feel the tingles because the fluid substance in our body becomes a conduit for the electromagnetic energy of our spirit, which manifests itself in the form of thoughts and feelings? Our thoughts and questions are the electric part of that spirit energy, receiving and sending out a continuous dynamic flow. Our feelings are the magnetic part of this energy, attracting what comes into our lives. Together, our thoughts and our feelings make up our spirit. Like electric and magnetic energy, they co-exist and transform. Our spirit embodies itself but doesn't lose its connection to the divine, Alpha and Omega, in the process. Alpha and OmegaThe word alpha evolved from Hebrew to Greek to Latin to English. Alpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet and over hundreds of years has come to mean beginning. It also means the first star - so, in another way, it means light. To me, alpha, the way the Bible refers to it, means light, a form of electricity. Omega, the great O, is the last letter of the Greek alphabet. Figuratively, it means the last word, the final development, the end. When the beginning and the end are joined, a figurative ëO' is created. I think this could also relate to the scenario created with a magnet. The energy that leaves one end of a magnetic pole is the same energy that enters at the opposite end: A figurative ëO' is created. What was meant when God said, "I am Alpha and Omega"? My interpretation is that alpha and omega were used as metaphors for the two components of our spirit: electric energy and magnetic energy. Our spirit is a form of electromagnetic energy, the electric part of which is our intelligence (thoughts and questions) and the magnetic part of which is our feelings. Our spirit is electric and magnetic energy, our intelligence and feelings, alpha and omega. I truly believe that the divine meant us to know that, but was unable to state it in these terms due to the limitations of our vocabulary in those times. When there is electric current (a flow of electrons), a magnetic field is induced. Similarly, the movement of a magnetic field creates a flow of electrons. Electric energy is one with, or part of, magnetic energy. In the same manner, intelligence (our thoughts and questions, our electric energy) and feelings (our magnetic energy) form a continuously flowing, interactive cycle. Magnetic energy could not exist without electric energy and vice versa, just as thoughts cannot exist without feelings, nor feelings without thoughts. Two Poles of PowerThe swirl icon, illustrated here, was originally created to simplify the explanation of the relationship between the law of attraction and our spirit. It has evolved to also symbolize the co-existence of intelligence and feelings.
Note the two poles of power that go diagonally through the swirl's center. One pole represents electric energy, the power of intelligence, and the law of intelligence. It is left open, symbolic of the free and infinite movement of the force of intelligence. The other pole represents magnetic energy, the power of feelings or emotions. The attached spiraling lines represent the law of attraction and the magnetic field that our feelings cause. |
